finishing out the year strong!

Hello Everyone!

My gosh we've accomplished so much this year...and have so much still to do although we are rapidly approaching the end of the year.

This past week our fifth and sixth grade classes had a wonderful field trip. We went for an all day outing to the Junior Achievement BizTown located in Temple. All of our students were assigned various jobs in 13 retail businesses at BizTown. Each of the businesses had a CEO (Chief Executive Officer, a CFO (Chief Financial Officer), and other staff positions. Each business had to develop its own budget plan including borrowing money from the bank and pricing its products to guarantee that sales would exceed the amount that the business borrowed. It was quite the energetic day! We teachers were very proud of our great group of kids. The Biztown staff told us that our group was one of the most knowledgable and well mannered groups that they had ever had. Kudos to all!

Coming up soon will be our Cinco de Mayo celebration which will be held on Friday, April 30th. Both Mrs. Marsh's and my 5th grade class will be operating the "musical chair" booth...and a very special guest star....Nacho Libre will be helping out in the fifth grade booth! Oh boy...here we go!

Through out this year I have been pleased and proud of my fifth grade class. The students have worked very hard in all subjects...I believe that the AIMS test results will show very strong growth for our students...overall!

bye...bye! Let's go LIBERTY!!!!

Christmas time is approaching...fast...muy pronto

Hello Folks!!! My name is Bill Sisk and I'm a 5th grade teacher at Liberty Traditional Charter School located in lovely Phoenix, AZ. I have about a decade of experience teaching math and science at the middle school level. So...this is my first year teaching at the elementary level. Teaching 5th grade is such a nice change from teaching 125 students or so in 5 or 6 one-hour math classes every day. Now I have the opportunity to spend the whole day with my 22 students teaching them not only the 3R's but how to live and respect those within our community as well as themselves.

We have so much content to cover this year. At the moment we are about 1/3 of the way through the school year. All of us have a lot more to learn during this quickly disappearing year. Our wonderful students need as much support from parents, teachers, and staff members to have a successful year. No doubt, we will face a number of challenges during the year but with the help of all of us working, communicating, and pushing in the same direction....we WILL have a great year.

Until next time....Happy Holidays....Mr. Bill Sisk
